Clinical Trials

In the twenty-five plus years since its establishment, the physicians at the Lancaster Cancer Center have witnessed an almost exponential growth in the number and type of cancer treatments available. These treatments are used in our office only after completing the extensive clinical trials process overseen by the Food and Drug Administration. Now the Lancaster Cancer Center is expanding its own participation in this clinical trials process, both to further research in cancer treatments and to offer this cutting edge option to our patients.

When a patient at the Lancaster Cancer Center participates in a clinical trial, he or she always receives treatment for his or her disease. In a clinical trial, this treatment might be a new drug, a new dosing schedule of an established drug, or a new combination of established drugs. Whatever the trial in which they may choose to participate, clinical trials patients at the Lancaster Cancer Center know that they are both receiving the best possible care and helping all those who also suffer from this disease.

ACORN (www.sosacorn.com)

We are a proud member of the ACORN (Accelerated Community Oncology Research Network) which currently includes over 150 oncology investigators in progressive oncology practices throughout the United Staes and abroad that are dedicated to clinical research. This collaboration of select community oncology clinics provides access to the most promising clinical trials available anywhere. As such, ACORN members offer patients opportunities to participate in the most promising clinical research studies that once were only avaiable in academic research settings.

All ACORN member practices share the same three Rs of research - the Right trial for the Right patient for the Right reason.
