Our Professional Team

Dr. DeGreen graduated from Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1972. He did his post graduate training in Internal Medicine and Hematology and Oncology at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C. and Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco. At Letterman he was the Director of Oncology Services and on the teaching staff at the University of California from 1978-1980. He moved to Lancaster in 1980 with his wife, Charlotte, and their three sons and also served on the teaching staff at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. He is a strong patient advocate who is both experienced and compassionate in his dealings with patients and their families.

After thirteen years in solo oncology practice in Drexel Hill, PA , Dr. Kane joined Dr. DeGreen’s practice in 1990. She is a graduate of Dickinson College and a 1970 graduate of Hahnemann Medical College. After completing an internship and Internal Medicine residency at Reading Hospital, she trained in Hematology at PUPMC and Medical Oncology at Hahnemann in Philadelphia. She resides in Lancaster County with her husband and three children. She also has had involvement in Hospice of Lancaster County as a member of its multi-disciplinary team.

She believes that Medical Oncology requires an integration of medical science and psychology, as well as support for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the cancer patient.

Lancaster Cancer Center is pleased to present the newest member of our medical team, Dr. Lena Dumasia. Dr. Dumasia is enthusiastically coming to Lancaster from Toms River, New Jersey. She was a scholarship student at NYU, attended Saba University School of Medicine, and completed her internal medicine residency at Hahnemann University School of Medicine and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She served her fellowship in hematology/oncology at Providence Hospital and the University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her list of accomplishments is lengthy, but, most importantly, she is looking forward to serving patients in Lancaster County.

Dr. Lena Dumasia

A graduate with a B.S degree from Gettysburg College and a M.A. degree in molecular biology from Temple University, Dr. Tracy DeGreen earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He served as Chief Intern at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. He completed his residency in internal medicine and also his fellowship in hematology and oncology at Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center. Dr. DeGreen has a special interest in breast cancer and is opening a clinical trial looking at mTOR inhibition in triple-negative breast cancer.

Dr. DeGreen, his wife Melinda, and his daughter live on a small farm in Millersville, PA. He is proud and pleased to be joining his father in practice at Lancaster Cancer Center. Dr. Tracy DeGreen says, Taking the time needed to educate a patient and a patient’s loved ones is a priority. Doing so is what the patient deserves. The History of Caring continues.

Dr. Balepur joins the Lancaster Cancer Center and shares their commitment in providing compassionate and insightful cancer care to patients, treating them with respect, empowering them with a sense of control and focusing on improving their quality of life.

Shyam Balepur, MD is a graduate of Osmania Medical College, India and received his masters in microbiology and immunology from University of Maryland. He earned his medical degree from University of Virginia and a fellowship in medical oncology and hematology from Georgetown University, Washington DC. Dr. Balepur has extensive experience in treating various types of tumors with particular interest in Gastrointestinal, Breast and Lung cancer as well as benign and malignant hematology, with a strong emphasis on clinical trials, research and teaching.

We are so pleased that Melanie will be returning to the Lancaster Cancer Center, now serving our patients as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner. Mrs. Rice earned her registered nursing and bachelor’s degrees from Eastern Mennonite University. She previously has worked as an oncology certified nurse at the Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center and, until the birth of her daughter, at the Lancaster Cancer Center. She is currently completing her masters of science at University of Pennsylvania and will be rejoining us in September of 2009. As she says, I look forward to working with patients and families during their journey through cancer and survivorship by providing evidence-based care in a holistic and integrative manor.

Patti joined Lancaster Cancer Center in July 2007, offering 17 years experience in practice management and medical billing. She started her career in medical billing with a pediatric group and then moved into the position of Practice Manager for an OB/GYN group in western Pennsylvania. After six years, she relocated to the Lancaster area to help with family responsibilities. She worked with the Ephrata Community OB/GYN group as Billing Manager and then Practice Manager.

In joining the Lancaster Cancer Center, she has found a very dedicated, compassionate, and professional staff in which to work. They will leave no stone unturned in order to help, console, or "just listen" to their patients.

The nursing staff at Lancaster Cancer Center is a skilled, dedicated and oncology focused team providing exceptional care, compassionate support and knowledgeable information to patients and their families in the treatment of oncology care. The nursing team of Lancaster Cancer Center also participates in the local “Relay for Life.”

Our office staff is caring, courteous, and friendly. Our goal is to make sure that your office visit goes as smoothly as possible. Patients are educated not only by our physicians and nurses during their appoinment, but by the office staff as well. All future appoinments are made from our office to ensure quality of service.
